New Peng Wah 新槟华家乡饭店 , Damansara Jaya

Looking for a place that serves homey Chinese food?
New Peng Wah was established in 1970 at Taman Paramount by a team of husband and wife. Fast forward to present, the nephew of the founder, Paul, has since took over and expanded the business. New Peng Wah currently has three outlets throughout Klang Valley, one in Damansara Jaya, one in Taman Desa, and the other one in Kota Kemuning.
Occupying two shop lots, New Peng Wah has a clean and spacious interior which can accommodate a big crowd. This place gets quite crowded on weekends after 7.30pm though !
Signature Lala Soup RM 16.00 (Small) ; RM 48.00 (Extra Large)
A flavourful and nourishing bowl of soup cooked with succulent lala imported from the Philippines, wolf berries (Kei Chee), Dong Quai and ginger. The soup has the right balance of spiciness and flavours, I couldn't help it but to reach our for a second helping!
Signature Deep Fried Ma Yau (Senangin) RM 6.00 for 100g
The fish was deep fried till crunchy perfection, served with soy sauce and garnished with ginger and coriander. A satisfying fresh and meaty fish dish.

Signature Potato Fried Pork RM 25.00 Thinly sliced potatoes stir-fried with garlic and pork, cooked in a dark soy sauce base sauce. One of New Peng Wah's signature dishes, and also my favourite dish of the night. A perfect comfort food to go with rice!
Signature Sliced Pork with Nyonya Sauce RM28
Pork slices, brinjal and okra cooked in nyonya sauce. The nyonya sauce was packed with a kick of spiciness and sourness. Would prefer to have seafood to go with this sauce though.
Claypot Hua Tiew Wine Chicken RM30
Tender chunks of chicken cooked in Hua Tiew wine based dark sauce, cooked with ginger and garlic. Everyone was fighting was the last bite of this dish - the chicken was really flavourful and the sauce was fragrant, with a hint of sweetness. A must-try at New Peng Wah!
Homestyle Claypot Brinjal RM 28
Brinjal cooked with minced prawns, minced pork, sweet pea and shrimp paste served with crunchy fried fu-zhuk skin on the side. A home-style dish originating from Temerloh, Pahang. Do give this dish a try if you're feeling adventurous!
Cantonese Style Hor Fun RM18
Another signature at New Peng Wah. Flat rice noodle cooked with sliced pork, squid, vegetable and eggs. Personally, I found this dish tad salty to my liking.

Verdict: My overall dining experience at New Peng Wah was satisfying. Homey, simple yet satisfying homecooked Chinese dishes. Will definitely be back for more!
