A Piece of Me cakes

CAKE, a simple dessert that is served in almost every special occasion, be it a birthday celebration, anniversary celebration, or a celebration to commemorate a joyous occasion.

Cakes have always been the love of my life. "I love cakes" is clearly an understatement to me. Hey, this blog has a header that literally screams "GIVE ME CAKES".(Header of www.jiaaqieats.com is CAKES & Beyond, btw).

a sinful yet delightful slice of Smooth Criminal from A Piece of Me

I always couldn't help it but to order a slice (& sometimes 2...or more...) of cake whenever I visit a cafe. Sometimes it hits the spots, and sometimes,.... you just have to accept the fact that you've wasted your 1 hour gym session on a disappointing slice of calorie-ladden cake.

One of my current favourite cake supplier is A Piece of Me. A Piece of Me is founded by a sweet young lady named Dorothy. A Piece of Me has been supplying cakes to several cafes in Klang Valley, which includes AmPm Cafe in USJ Subang Jaya.

Smooth Criminal
Rich & moist chocolate cake with creamy peanut butter frosting. Peanut Butter + Chocolate is like a marriage that last forever- it is undeniably the best combination in the world. This simple cake was very well executed- smooth layer of peanut butter cream, topped with grounded peanuts to give it an extra crunch, with rich & moist chocolate cake layering the peanut butter cream. Sweetness was just right, not overwhelmingly sweet nor cloying. Just nice.
Mad Hatter
Earl Grey Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
One bite and I'm hooked- the rich, aromatic Earl Grey flavour lingers around my taste buds, tempting me to go for another bite, after another. The moist spongy cake complements the creamy cream cheese layer oh-so-perfectly. Earl Grey fans, please do yourself a favour and get this cake!

Craving for a lovely slice of cake? Contact A Piece of Me via email: apieceofme@gmail.com. Do make your order at least one week in advance.

Good news for my readers! Quote "www.jiaaqieats.com" to enjoy 10% discount on any cakes from A Piece of Me! Offer valid for one whole cake only. Deal ends exactly one month from the date of this post is published.

MT Latte, Dataran Ara Damansara [CLOSED]

MT Latte, a new cafe in Dataran Ara Damansara, opened by a team of husband & wife with a great passion in coffee & food.
The discrete Dataran Ara Damansara shop lots area may be a little hard to locate, Waze or Google Map may come in handy. Located amidst car workshops , MT Latte has a striking signboard which is rather hard to miss , with the bold wordings and yellow & black stripes margin of the sign.

Expect smiles & greetings as you step inside this humble little cafe. Owner Nichole greeted everyone with utmost enthusiasm as they set foot into MT Latte. The compound of this cafe is slightly small, which gets a little pack with families during lunch hours in the weekend.

One couldn't help it but to admire the creative interior of MT Latte, which was meticulously crafted to suit the theme of construction & engineering which depict the major that Nichole's husband graduated from university.

Nichole is a self-taught barista. Her love and passion towards coffee brought her here today. MT Latte uses Degayo Dark Roast beans for their coffee.
Expect an array of local, western & fusion food served at MT Latte. Nichole stated that most of the food served here are inspired by her childhood's favourites, and all recipes & crafted by her & her family.
Speculous Latte (Hot) RM9.50
The Speculous Latte was the first thing on the menu that caught my attention. A simple google search reveals that speculous is a type of shortcrust biscuit which compose of different kind of spices. Feeling adventurous, I decided to give it a go- & I loved it!

Nichole did warn me that the Speculous Latte is not a drink for anyone. If you're a fan of Speculous Latte go for it!
Cappuccino (Hot) RM8.50
Roasted Hazelnut Latte (Cold) RM10.50
Nasi Lemak Sandwich RM12.90
Two slices of "Roti Bakar" (Toasted Hainanese Bread) sandwiching a thick-cut deep fried Chicken, sunny-side up, lettuce, ikan bilis & roasted groundnuts. Served with a side of MT Latte homemade sambal

The crunchy fried chicken, creamy egg yolk, savoury ikan bilis & their special homemade sambal went together perfectly. Their special homemade sambal was the spotlight of the dish- with the right level of spiciness and tangy-ness which hit the spot.

However, we thought that the fried chicken could need a little more seasoning- it tasted mediocre when eaten on its own.

Stewed Lamb served with Rice or Bread RM18.90
Slow-cooked Lamb cooked with carrots, cherry tomatoes & mushrooms
Nichole explained that the stew lamb was her family's secret recipe, which was clearly a crowd-pleaser. Each chunk of lamb was perfectly marinated & tender, bursting with flavours with each bite.
MT Breakfast Platter RM18.90
Choice of Sunny Side Up/Scrambled Eggs/Poached Eggs, popcorn hash brown, baked beans, chicken sausage & ham, roti bakar and a side of salad. A simple East meets West version of a big breakfast. I personally find the scrambled eggs overly salty.

Wow Fried Chicken with Thai Sauce
Crunchy fried chicken with a touch of orient. Nothing much to shout about.

Philips Sonicare AirFloss

Flossing- a daily activity that has been deemed with utmost importance, yet how many people do floss on a daily basis? Admit it, we have been preached time & again by our dentists, family, friends to floss daily, but we never or rarely floss because of laziness, flossing is a tedious process, we have not enough time & [insert excuses here].
Philips have come out with a solution that could defy all excuses- the Philips Sonicare AirFloss. a quick & convenient oral care device which is clinically proven to remove up to 99% of plaque from hard to reach place.
Flossing is done easy & efficiently with only a press of a button with Philips Sonicare AirFloss's air and micro-droplet technology  which promises to clean up to 5x more plaque between teeth than manual tooth brushing alone.
How does the Philips Sonicare AirFloss works?

"Aim" the nozzle guidance tip in between your teeth, and with a press of the button, a rapid burst of air & water droplets forces plaque & bacteria out, maximising plaque removal & improving gum health.

Each burst only takes a fraction of second. Amazing, isn't it? A tedious 10 minutes long flossing time can be reduced to one minute, with just a press of button.
Each "floss" only requires one or two teaspoon of water or mouthwash, which can be easily refilled at this little reservoir as shown above.
Features of the Philips Sonicare AirFloss:

  • Charging Time: 24 hours fully rechargable
  • Operating Time: 2 weeks or 14 full-months uses
  • Slim, angled nozzle for easy access to even the hard-to-reach areas
  • RRP: RM699, available at selected elecrical stores, dental clinics & soon in branded retail

Consumers are advised to change the nozzle every six months which comes in a pack of 2.
