"Japanese cuisine," I answered.
I'm always on the prowl for good Japanese restaurants. A four months old Japanese restaurant, Koyaku Japanese Dining & Grill located at Faber Tower Taman Desa, caught my attention as it was shortlisted for the Time Out KL Food Awards 2015 for Best New Restaurant.
Koyaku means "little house" in Japanese. Koyaku Japanese Dining & Grill emphasize on serving only fresh and quality food. All dishes are prepared using the original and best ingredients, all air-flown from Japan.
I was instantly mesmerized by the interior of Koyaku. The decor at Koyaku was creative & eco-friendly- most of the decor are crafted using recycled materials such as recycled cardboard boxes from Japan, old fans, old toys which incorporate a modern, funky Japanese vibes without loosing its traditional aesthetic value.
Another highlight of Koyaku: life-size Astro Boy action figure!

Besides the ala-carte menu, Koyaku offers customers a special Omakase dining experience. I was really fortunate to be able to try out Koyaku's Omakase menu. Omakase is a Japanese phrase that means "I'll leave it to you".
Here's an explanation of Omakase dining from Wikipedia!
The expression is used at sushi restaurants to leave the selection to the chef. It differs from ordering à la carte. The chef will generally present a series of plates, beginning with the lightest fare and proceeding to the heaviest, richest dishes. The phrase is not exclusive to service of raw fish with rice, and can incorporate grilling, simmering, or other cooking techniques as well. The term omakase is not restricted to flesh, nor to sequential banquets. It can be used generally to mean any selection of dishes prepared at the chef's discretion comprising a meal, including strict vegan.Koyaku's talented chef will tailor your meal according to your personal taste preference, dietary preferences, your budget & the season. Omakase dining offers the chef the choice of what to serve you based on what he feels best represents his skills, while using the freshest fish that is available today. You'll be surprised by the chef's innovative and creativity in producing the best dish to the table.
Pricing for Omakase menu starts from RM150, depending on the type of dish served. The pricing is decided beforehand based on the customers' preferences.

Kyoho Grape
We were really lucky as Kyoho grapes were in season! This is by far the best grapes I've ever tasted- sweet, plump, juicy with a wonderful red wine taste.
I was really impressed by the quality & freshness of food served at Koyaku. Everything was simply fantastic! The sushi chef was friendly and informative- explaining to us about the dishes served, teaching us ways to enjoy our food the same way the Japanese do.
Anticipation and excitement prevails as the experienced sushi chef prepare the next dish right before our eyes. We "ooohhh" & "aaah" in awe watching the chef in action. It was really exciting, guessing what dish will be served next. We didn't know what to expect but every dish far exceeds my expectation!
Prior reservation is compulsory for the Omakase menu. Do make your reservations early to avoid disappointment!
