Piggy Tail, Jalan Telawi 3 Bangsar [Non-Halal] [CLOSED]

Piggy Tail has always piqued my interested with its cute sign & busy crowd whenever I walk pass it. Piggy Tail seems to be a rather popular after-work hang out spot for working adults to have their dinner & drink. I was rather elated when I was given the chance to try out this place!
Piggy Tail is located along the busy street of Jalan Telawi 3, facing Bangsar Village II & located just next to Nirwana.
Diners can choose to dine in at the el fresco area overlooking the busy streets of Bangsar Telawi or the indoor seating area. Lights are dimmed after 9.30pm to give the place more "bar vibes". I love the fact that the music here is not too loud despite having a bar scene- it gives us diners a nice "bar vibes", yet our conversation does not get drowned down by the loud music.
Pork Corn RM16
Deep Fried bite-sized Sakura Pork Cutlet with the right proportion of fats & lean meat, coated with a thin & crunchy layer of golden-crisp batter seasoned perfectly with spice & herbs.
A perfect beer food and also good with a glass of wine. Warning, super addictive! Once I popped one into my mouth I couldn't help but to reach out for an extra helping.
Wild Mushroom Soup RM18
Blend of three different mushroom, cooked with truffle oil and cream.
Creamy & flavourful, I loved this soup to bits! The addition of truffle oil certainly gave this dish an extra punch.
Premium Pork Aglio Olio RM25
Spaghetti cooked with Olive Oil, Garlic, Chili Flakes & topped generously with succulent Sakura Pork Neck meat & Sliced Bacon.
 Snowy Piggy Carbonara RM22
The Carbonara served here at Piggy Tail is close to the original Carbonara, topped with a runny egg yolk and sprinkled generously with cheese. A creamy dish which is better off sharing, as it might be overly cloying for some to finish on its own.
Piggy Pork Shoulder Steak RM45
Premium Pork Shoulder grilled & marinated to perfection. Served with Unique Piggy BBQ sauce, Mashed Potatoes, Coleslaw & Greens on the side.
The pork shoulders were tender & juicy. Tasted good on its own even without dipping into the sauce on the side!
BBQ Pork Long Ribs RM55
Ribs marintaed with housemade BBQ sauce, grilled to perfection. Served with a side of Greens and Coleslaw. The BBQ Pork Long Ribs didn't quite hit the spot for me. Personally felt that the long ribs were a little dry and tough.
 Signature Lamb Chop RM45
Another personal favourite of mine would definitely be this Signature Lamb Chop. The lamb meat were tender and succulent, with the sides slightly charred to give it a smoky BBQ taste in addition to its flavourful Homemade Mongolian sauce.
Signature Pork Knuckles RM86
A perfect platter for sharing. Crunchy crackling skin, encasing the juicy tender meat inside. Served with Coleslaw, Greens & Supreme Gravy.
Piggy Pork Burger RM28
Burger Bun sandwiching a thick yet juicy Pork Patty drenched in Cheese, fried Onion Rings and fresh greens. Served with a side of greens & addictive curly fries.
I challenge you to try to fit this burger into your mouth without dissembling it! I love how the contrast between textures of the juicy pork patty and the crunchy fried onion ring goes so well together.
Mixed Pork Frank RM30
Three different Pork Frankfrutters (Herbs, Spicy & Original) served with mashed and greens.
Truffle Ice Cream RM18
We ended our meal with a sweet note. Homemade Truffle ice-cream topped with Bacon Bits & drizzled with chocolate sauce. A unique combination of sweet & savoury all in one dessert.

If you're looking for a nice place for a filling & satisfying dinner accompanied with a drink, Piggy Tail would be the place to be!

What is Project WHEE?

Do take a look at this video to help you understand more about Project WHEE :)

Project WHEE is a youth voluntary project  project supported by eHomemakers, a nonprofit social enterprise, which aims to equip the rural women in Bario, a village located in the centre of the Kelabit Highlands in the northeast of Sarawak, with skills, knowledge and resources so that they can become eco-tourism community guides and homestay hosts whilst being able to communicate more effectively with tourists.

Bario, Sarawak
We will be spending 22 days in Bario teaching the women English informally so that they can have a more sustainable income through Ecotourism in Bario. The current form of income is agriculture which is seasonal. Eco-tourism will bring work to Bario and revive their culture.

We will also be involved in community service activities such as farming/cleaning work, where we get to experience life as a Kelabit.

Here's a write up about Project Whee by The Star:

Future Fashion Trends in 2015!

Fashion.

I love fashion. I love observing how the trends of fashion changes from season to season. One moment this piece of clothing is "in", and the next thing you know, it is "out". It is undeniable that the fashion scene has always been volatile & fast-moving.

Thus, it is hard for some ladies to catch up with the fashion trend. Me myself too, I often catch myself wearing old & out of date clothing while others rock the latest trend from head-to-toe. Therefore, to prevent myself from falling into this again, I have been observing the latest fashion trends and I'd like to share these three predictable future fashion trend for the year 2015.

Hope this could help you ladies out there make a better choice while shopping! :)
Stripes Midi Skirt that emits a playful vibe. Suitable for a casual day out.

1. Midi Skirts

Midi Skirts are getting popular among ladies. Midi skirts are definitely a staple in every woman's closet. You can wear a Midi Skirt for almost any occasion without looking inappropriate. You can wear it at work, out on a date, parties and even formal events!  Plus, it is so easy to mix & match and style with a Midi Skirt - it goes well with tank top, and even a simple plain t-shirt.

Midi Pencil Skirt. Suitable for work or formal event by pairing it up with a blouse.
Another plus point of the midi skirt- you do not need to worry about breaching the dress code while wearing a Midi Skirt at a Government building :P

A simple plain Midi Skirt. Pair it with a blouse for a more formal look ; Pair it with a tee or tank top for a casual, chic look.

2. Tulle Skirts

The Tulle Skirts are climbing in percentage since last year and could be one of the top choices women choose as part of their outfit, as it gives woman a sense of feminine & princess-y feel.

The puffy A line skirt definitely exposes a woman’s girl character effortless. Tulle skirts are great to be worn to parties, dinners or even a date with the special someone. You can also pair a Tulle Skirt with a denim top or a biker jacket to have an edgy feel too.

3. Jogger Pants

Wanna be stylish & feel comfortable at the same time? Jogger pants is your answer! Jogger pants are being push into the limelight in the world of fashion due to its comfortable fit.
Purple jogger pants, heels, white crop top and white blazer. A stylish look yet you don't need to leave your "comfort zone"
And yes, you can look chic & stylish even though the jogger pants are so comfortable! Just pair it with a pair of heels, a crop top and finish it off with a blazer to give yourself an edgy look. The jogger pants also comes in different colours & patterns, and it is easy to pull off a casual look with it.

Rocku Yakiniku, Pavilion KL [Non-Halal]

Want to go for an all-you-can-eat meal but on a tight budget? Rocku Yakiniku might have an answer for this.
Rocku Yakiniku is an all-new casual, upbeat yet edgy all-you-can-eat Yakiniku restaurant located at the new Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Level 7 Dining Loft, where new restaurants such as Village Duck, Pig & Wolfs resides.
ROCKU Yakiniku defies convention by melding a traditional style of Japanese dining with modern entertainment, perfectly characterizing Japanese pop culture, which is quite evident from it's interior which emits a really lively & upbeat vibe.

Unlike other BBQ restaurants, Rocku Yakiniku does not reek of smoky BBQ smell. Rocku Yakiniku has a modern smoke-free BBQ system where the ventilation is installed below the BBQ pit, thus the absence of ventilation fans dangling from the ceiling! I left the restaurant with my hair smelling fresh and smoke-free! A really great plus point :)
There is a mini podium at the center of Rocku Yakiniku, where live bands perform every day from 7.30pm onwards. The bands rotate on a daily basis so do keep a tab on Rocku Yakiniku's Facebook Page to see who's performing! Magic shows are available every Friday night too!
Rocku Yakiniku takes pride in their really affordable all-you-can-eat lunch & dinner. RM39.90++ for weekdays lunch and RM49.90++ for weekdays & weekend dinner and weekdays dinner! Patrons are given 100 minutes to dine in & grill as much food as you can. You can top up an additional RM9.90++ for an extra 20 minutes dining time if you wish to eat more.

The price are inclusive of a free flow of meat during the dining period. What is not included in the price: Drinks, Alcohol & Ice-Cream.

Fret not, as The Last Polka ice-cream is available for only RM3.90 per scoop! Flavors available are CoconutDeep Dark Chocolate & Mango.
Rocku Yakiniku constantly have promotions for their beer and sake too, so you get to enjoy your hot grilled meat with cold beer at an affordable price tag!
The free-flow meats are done ala-carte style but you can head on to their buffet bar while waiting for the charcoal to be heated up!
The Cold Bar: Salad leaves, Kimchi, Chuka Idakko, Edamame, Sweet Corn...
Hot Food Bar: Fried Mushroom, Chawanmushi, Pasta, Karage, Daikon Soup, Fried Rice...
There are also various sliced vegetables for the grill too!

As it was our first time here and we wanted to get a taste of everything, we ordered the Seafood Platter, Meat Platter & Pork Platter which consist a little of everything for our first round.
Seafood Platter: Clockwise from Top Left: Butter fish, Salmon, Scallops, Squid, Mussel, Shishamo & Prawns
I loved how fresh the seafood were! The sauce that goes with the seafood complements it perfectly, not too salty , just nice to my liking.
Pork Platter: Pork Collar & Pork Belly
Pork Bacon
Love how the ratio of lean meat & fats are proportion- we were advised to start cooking the bacon first as the lard oil will prevent the sticking of the meat on the grill.
Meat Platter: Beef Ribeye & Beef Striploin
Lamb Slices
Chicken Thigh
The beef & lamb served here at Rocku are all imported from Australia. Hence, you can expect quality tender meat here at Rocku :) The meat were lovely- perfectly seasoned & tender! Be vary though, as the meat are thinly sliced, the meat only takes a while to be cooked so do watch your meat!

It is really fun being in a yakiniku restaurant cause you get to cook your meat all to your liking- rare, medium , or well done!
The seasoning sauce used at Rocku: Ponzu, Chili & Miso sauce

Verdict: Really affordable & quality all-you-can-eat Yakiniku buffet, with a wonderful ambiance & live band. Would love to drop by here again one day!
